Established in 1958, Rangaraya Medical College (RMC) in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, is one of the oldest and most prestigious government medical colleges in India. Affiliated to the Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), RMC has been at the forefront of medical education, research, and community healthcare for over six decades.
The college is named after the renowned philanthropist Sri Rangaraya and is situated in the coastal city of Kakinada, known for its rich cultural heritage. RMC offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate (MD, MS, Diploma) programs, attracting students from across the country.

MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery)
A 5.5-year undergraduate program (4.5 years academic + 1 year internship) that provides comprehensive medical education. The curriculum includes pre-clinical, para-clinical, and clinical subjects, with hands-on training at our teaching hospital. Admissions are based on NEET-UG scores, with 250 seats available annually.

A 1250-bed multi-specialty hospital with ICUs, operation theaters, and advanced diagnostic services including MRI, CT scan, and digital X-ray. It serves as a tertiary care referral center for East Godavari district.

Well-stocked with over 50,000 books, 200+ print journals, and access to online databases like PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane Library. Digital library with e-learning resources and 24/7 reading rooms.
Research Labs
State-of-the-art laboratories for pathology, microbiology, biochemistry, and pharmacology research. Equipped with PCR, ELISA, and tissue culture facilities for innovative medical research.
Hostels & Recreation
Separate hostels for boys and girls with mess, gym, and sports facilities. Campus includes auditorium, cafeteria, playgrounds, and Wi-Fi connectivity for a conducive living environment.
Hospital Services Overview
The Rangaraya Government General Hospital (RGGH) attached to the college provides comprehensive healthcare services across departments like Cardiology, Neurology, Nephrology, Oncology, and Trauma Care. It handles over 500,000 outpatient visits and 50,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital is equipped with a blood bank, dialysis unit, cath lab, and neonatal ICU. Community outreach includes mobile health units and rural health camps.
Recent upgrades include a new modular operation theater complex, digital hospital management system, and telemedicine facilities for remote consultations. The hospital also runs outreach programs for maternal and child health, tuberculosis control, and non-communicable diseases.

Principal & Professor of Medicine
MBBS, MD (General Medicine), DM (Cardiology) with 25+ years of experience. Former HOD at Gandhi Medical College. Published over 100 research papers in national and international journals.
Dr. Anjali Mehta
Vice-Principal & Professor of Surgery
MBBS, MS (General Surgery), MCh (Surgical Gastroenterology). Expert in minimally invasive surgery. Recipient of the Dr. B.C. Roy Award for excellence in medical education.
Dr. R. K. Singh
Dean of Academics & Professor of Pediatrics
MBBS, MD (Pediatrics), Fellowship in Neonatology. Leads the pediatric ICU and neonatal services. Active in community child health programs and immunization drives.
Our faculty includes over 200 members across 30 departments, many with advanced training from prestigious institutions in India and abroad. They are involved in curriculum development, research supervision, and clinical practice. The college encourages faculty to attend conferences and workshops for continuous learning.
In addition to full-time faculty, RMC invites visiting professors and industry experts for guest lectures and workshops. The staff-student ratio is maintained at 1:10 to ensure personalized attention. Faculty achievements include patents, research grants, and leadership roles in medical associations.
